5/30/08 Legislative Alert! - The “Paid Sick Days” Bill Brewing in City Hall, Bill No. 080474 aims to affect each business in Philadelphia, guaranteeing paid “sick time.” If passed, the paid days off would be entitled all employees working in the city for more than 56 hours per year. Days would be accrued by hours worked, and can total up to 72 hours of paid sick time in each calendar year (unless the employer selects a higher limit).
12/10/07 Legislative Alert! - Employment and training On November 30th, 2007 MAP, workforce development agencies, School District and City Council representatives, and manufacturers, met to discuss opportunities in employment and training. The meeting focused on MAP’s upcoming Human Resources Workshop; this workshop is designed to help companies better understand potential employees and the strategies that exist to help with retention.
7/10/07 Before Council session ended for the summer, the Urban Industry Initiative took the first steps in reauthorizing one of our Neighborhood Improvement Districts, The Port Richmond Industrial Development Enterprise (PRIDE). City Council had the first of two hearings on its continuation in June; information on the second hearing, which will be schedule when Council resumes in September, will be provided.
